The decision to free him came after Jeff went into the crowd midway during his match at a house event in Edinburg, Texas, on Saturday.
He was competing in a 6-man tag-team match against The Bloodline with Drew McIntyre & King Woods by his side. Following his shocking release, a new report has been surfacing over the internet suggesting that the former World Champion was considered for a bigger role. Hardy was on the verge of having a feud with none other than the Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

According to some backstage news, Jeff Hardy was not a problem backstage. WWE was quite aware of the kind of reactions the former World Champion received, and he was considered to have a program with the Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

Ringside News was told by a tenured member of WWE’s creative team that, “Jeff was not an issue (backstage). In fact, there was talk amongst the writers that Roman and Heyman were on board with working a match with Jeff at either the Rumble or Saudi.”
