Kamaru Usman on his injury and delayed return:

The Nigerian nightmare is not a regular fighter. His striking dominance and his winning streak have elevated him to the level of the number one pound-to-pound fighter.

With a stunning record of straight 21 wins, he stands undefeated in UFC. He earned his name The Nigerian Nightmare due to his dominant win and giving nightmares to his opponents.

The reigning welterweight champion has been at the top of the food chain. Kamaru Usman receives regular call-outs from all other exceptional UFC fighters.

Recently he received his callout from UFC’s notorious former double decision champion Conor McGregor and the now rising welterweight division champion Khamzat Chimaev.

Unfortunately, responding to the callout is the wittiest he is still unable to make his return.

In his recent appearance with Eagle FC fight conference, he elaborated on the situation.

The Nigerian Nightmare said, “What I was hoping was for the doctor to say, ‘Hey, all right, back to full-go.’ But he expressed to me that this was a tendon issue,The issue with tendons is there is no blood flow there, especially when they’re in your hands. So it takes a lot longer and not just that way. It’s also right on top of my knuckle. It’s right on that money maker right there. This is the one I’m going to make contact with very, very quick.”

“If I don’t give it the appropriate time to heal properly, then I’m just going to split that right back open and I’m out for a whole year, potentially worse,” Usman said. “(I could) do irreparable damage to where I couldn’t potentially fight again. That’s not a chance I’m willing to take right now. I love my career.”

Leon Edwards was to face Usman in a rematch in UFC 278. They first fought in 2015, where the Usman won by a unanimous decision.

If the situation keeps continuing, Usman’s belt might be stripped off.
