Oliveira has had his fair share of ups and downs in the UFC. Before his title-winning run, the Brazilian lost eight times in the UFC.  UFC 289: Charles Oliveira record in Canada

Four of Oliveira’s nine losses in MMA have come in Canada. These are worrying signs for Brazilian fans who believe in MMA curses as Beneil Dariush also enters the fight as the favorite. Therefore, things are not looking good.

The first of Oliveira’s defeats in Canada came against Jim Miller in 2010. Oliveira suffered a surprising first-round submission loss. This was his first defeat in the UFC in just his third fight. After his defeat to Miller, the next time ‘Do Bronx’ fought in Canada was in 2012 against Cub Swanson. Again, the Brazilian suffered a first-round defeat. This time by TKO.

After defeat against Swanson, Oliveira faced Max Holloway in Canada in 2015. Yet again. Oliveira suffered a first-round knockout defeat at the hands of the former featherweight champion. And finally, Oliveira’s last fight in Canada was against Anthony Pettis. And while it was not a first-round defeat, ‘Do Bronx’ lost via a guillotine choke.

Therefore, Oliveira’s record in Canada is 0-4 with three first round defeats and all four finishes. Thus, it is no surprise that fans will be apprehensive of his chances against a tough challenger in Beneil Dariush.

What do you make Charles Oliveira’s record in Canada? Do you think he will break the curse?
