Barcelona dominated the game in every facet, and they scored by capitalising on three errors made by Real Madrid. Real Madrid, who had no shots on goal in the first half, spent the most of the second half in a panicked state as they tried to avoid suffering a worse loss.

But once more, Barcelona scored thanks to a costly error. In the middle of the field, substitute Dani Ceballos dropped the ball, and Gavi ran forward and crossed for Pedri to shoot point-black into the open goal. In extra time, Karim Benzema netted a consolation goal for Real by converting the rebound after Marc-Andre ter Stegen stopped his initial attempt.
