Dhoni has participated in each IPL season to far. He assumed control of CSK in 2008 and held the position through 2015. For the 2016 and 2017 IPL seasons, he moved to Rising Pune Supergiants. When CSK entered the league again in 2018, they re-signed Dhoni. Prior to the start of the IPL 2022, he did resign as CSK’s captain, but after Ravindra Jadeja failed as captain, he took over again.
Before IPL 2024, the IPL icon is anticipated to make a decision about his future, and Dhoni may quite well call it quits following 250 appearances. Rohit Sharma, who has appeared in 243 games, is in second place. Following Dhoni on the list are, in order, Dinesh Karthik (242), Virat Kohli (237), and Ravindra Jadeja (225). Next season, Rohit and Kohli will play in more than 250 matches in the IPL.
The 41-year-old former captain of India has already guided Chennai to four IPL trophies and will want to take the Yellow Army to a record-tying fifth crown. In terms of his performance, Dhoni has 104 runs scored in 15 games at an average of 34.67 in this season.
The two-time World Cup winner has a respectable strike rate of 185.71 and has always been a finisher when given the chance to bat. He has played down the lineup and has delighted the crowd with his powerful smashes. In all, he has hit 10 sixes so far this season.
