IPL 2023: Chennai Super Kings is an Indian Premier League franchise based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Founded in the year 2008, CSK plays its home matches at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. Led by charismatic MS Dhoni, CSK is the most consistent IPL franchise. The Yellow Brigade has won four titles under Dhoni’s leadership. The franchise is owned by India Cements. It was purchased for Rs 360 crore (approx US$91 million) in 2008.

History
After MS Dhoni was bagged for Rs 9.5 Crore in the inaugural auction, he has become the face, heart and soul of the side. His partnership with coach Stephen Fleming’s have played an integral part in Super Kings’ success over the years.
Chennai lost the final to Rajasthan off the last ball in 2008, and then the semi-final in 2009. Then came the rise as they secured back-to-back titles the next two seasons.
The next four IPLs saw them falter in the knockouts. Then came a ban for two years because of a spot-fixing scandal. In 2018, when Super Kings made their return to the IPL, they delivered their third title.
Mumbai defeated Chennai in a tense last ball final in 2019 by just one run. The very next year, for the first time in history, Chennai failed to make it to the playoffs in the UAE.
Disappointment turned into joy when the Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2022 final.
