India Squad WI TOUR: Spare a thought for head coach Rahul Dravid as well. The former India captain, ever since his permanent appointment, has worked with different captains, including Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and others. Each and every player has their own thought process and it takes time for the coach to sync with the new captain and vice versa as well.
However, Dravid has worked previously with Shikhar Dhawan the captain in the Sri Lanka series in 2021. Interestingly, the appointment of Jadeja also raises eyebrows. It is the same player, who had resigned as the captain of Chennai Super Kings, who fared poorly under him.
Is hectic schedule the main reason for such stance?
It is no rocket science. Each and every cricket playing nation wants to play and host India. It helps the host nation generate massive revenue. Some have cited too much cricket to be a reason for India chopping and changing the team every other series. But that cannot be an excuse to have a different squad for every series.
For instance, take the upcoming T20I series against England. India are going to play a different side in the first game. The second and third T20I series will comprise a different set of players. It came to this as India’s fifth Test match only concluded a day before the T20 series.
