“My recovery from COVID-19 was good, eight-nine days have passed since the time I tested positive for COVID. We have seen that every player who tested positive for COVID-19 responded differently, I do not know what will happen going forward, but right now I am feeling fine. I started training three days back so that is why I decided to play the first T20I game. I do not have any symptoms, all my tests have come back as negative and now I am looking forward to the game,” said Rohit Sharma.

“Of course, we are keeping one eye on the World Cup. Every game for India matters to us and we are trying to tick every box that we have and get our job done. There are quite a few young players who are getting the opportunity to represent the country and they deserve this opportunity.”
“Speaking about the interaction, yes, I am yet to understand what was happening with this time. Today is my first day with the time. They were traveling to Ireland and played a couple of practice games as well. Trying to understand what sort of mindset the boys are in and understand every individual’s preparation. It was just about catching up. It’s always nice to be back,” Rohit added.
But Rohit Sharma has a huge dilemma regarding the combination. Both Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh were impressive in their IPL 2022 stints with Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings respectively. The pacer duo were then selected for the 5-match T20I series but failed to get a chance.
After having warmed the bench against the Proteas, Umran Malik got his much-needed debut against Ireland while Arshdeep sat on the bench. The Punjabi pacer got his chance with the ball in the warm-up matches.
“We are trying to give him an understanding of what the team requires from him. We have to see what he has to offer to us. He is an exciting prospect, we have seen it in IPL. It is about giving him a role, whether we want him to bowl with a new ball or in the middle overs because when you play for a franchise, you have a different role. Guys here have a certain skill set, it is about understanding it, fitting these people in the side and giving them role clarity,” he added about Malik.

Malik failed to impress in the first match against Ireland but brought bowling returns in the next match. Arshdeep who played against Derbyshire and Northamptonshire will also eye a spot in the team in the upcoming T20I match where the members of the Test squad won’t be available.

– Both the young pacers are hungry to prove in the National colours.
– Malik and Singh were highy impressive in IPL 2022.
– The pacer duo were selected in the T20I series against South Africa but failed to get a chance in the squad.
– Malik got his debut against Ireland. Arshdeep still awaits his debut.
Both the young pacers will fancy their chance in the playing XI and would be eager to prove their worth at the first opportunity which they get.
