India Squad WI Tour: India vs West Indies Live: Rahul Dravid will have to deal with a new captain once again. After speaking to captain Rohit Sharma and other senior players including Virat Kohli, the selectors have decided to rest the multi-format players from the ODI series. Shikhar Dhawan instead will lead a young team on the West Indies Tour.  Ravindra Jadeja has been named vice-captain. Follow India Tour of West Indies Live Updates on InsideSport.IN.

India’s squad for 3 ODIs: Shikhar Dhawan (Captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Ravindra Jadeja (vice-captain), Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Mohd Siraj, Arshdeep Singh.

With T20 World Cup just three months away, the focus is now on T20 format and that is the reason, the selectors have decided to rest players from the ODI series. With all Indian players who played in the 5th Test at Edgbaston set to miss the 1st T20, India will not have a full-strength squad once again. In fact, since the T20 World Cup, the entire squad is yet to play together in the T20s, making Rahul Dravid’s task a difficult one. Let’s take a look at who missed which series since the T20 World Cup 2021.

India vs South Africa T20Is preview: Rishabh Pant and Co eye strong start as World Cup prep restarts

With Mohammed Shami not part of the plans for T20 despite his exploits in IPL 2022, India will only get two matches with a full-strength team. In fact, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrha and the Test players will stay back in Edgbaston for the 2nd T20.

With T20 World Cup just 4 months away, it is not ideal and Rahul Dravid accepted that twice. Even a person like Rahul Dravid, who doesn’t even accidentally spill the beans, said it has been difficult to work with seven captains in 8 months. On Tuesday, after the end of the 5th Test, he once again reiterated that Team India do not get too long to contemplate on their losses due to fixture overload.

“The way cricket is going, there is no time to reflect on it. After two days, I will be talking about something else,” Rahul Dravid said with a chuckle.
