But the Suryakumar Yadav gamble Rahul Dravid played finally paid off. He was in his zone taking on West Indian bowlers, especially Alzarri Joseph. He completed his half-century off just 26 balls. He smashed 76 off 44 balls with 8 boundaries and 4 sixes.

But there was no stopping him. He played some exquisite shots off Alzarri Joseph. He lofted a back-of-the-length delivery of Joseph over long off for a 6. That was the shot of the match and West Indies realised there was no way back for them. He added 86 runs with Shreyas Iyer off just 59 balls to take the match away from West Indies.
But Shreyas Iyer once again failed to make any mark in the much. He played a sluggish 24-run knock off 27 deliveries with just two boundaries. It was yet another failure for the stylish batsman after Rahul Dravid kept faith him in to deliver. He departed for 24 after failing to read Akeal Hosein’s line and was easily stumped.
However, Rishabh Pant took charge, adding 30 runs off 19 balls with Suryalumar Yadav to take India closer to the target. In the end, he remained unbeaten on 33 off 26, taking India across the finish line.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first. But West Indies were off to a good start with Kyle Mayers and Brandon King adding 57 runs for the opening wickets. Even though Hardik Pandya and Ravichandran Ashwin bowled tight lines and economical spells, Mayers found a way.
He targeted Avesh Khan, who was at the receiving end, conceding 47 runs in just three overs. With Rovman Powell and Shimron Hetmyer contributing 23 off 14 and 20 off 12 respectively, West Indies posted 164/5. Kyle Mayers smashed 73 off 50 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes.
