IND vs AUS: Usman Khawaja Visa Row – Australia batter Usman Khawaja has received his visa for India as he boarded the flight on Thursday. He was “stranded” in Melbourne after failing to get his India visa on time. On Wednesday, the seasoned left-handed batter uploaded a meme to Instagram with the caption, “me waiting for my Indian visa like…” Australian team left Sydney by plane on Tuesday after attending the Allan Border Medal ceremony the previous evening. Pakistan-born Khawaja missed a flight on Wednesday. He was the only member of the team who was unable to go due to a visa delay. This week he was voted as Australia’s Test player of the year.

On Thursday, a representative for Cricket Australia confirmed that Khawaja’s visa had been accepted overnight and that he was travelling from Melbourne to Bengaluru in the morning.

 Australia star Usman Khawaja to leave for India on Feb 2 after getting visa clearance, posts FUNNY meme, CHECK out

On Thursday, Khawaja is expected to fly to India once his visa is approved. His preparation is not expected to be greatly affected because he was not supposed to train on Thursday in the first place. Four Test matches between Australia and India will be played, with the first one beginning on February 9 at Nagpur.

Khawaja, who has never played a Test match in India but is the Australian lineup’s top in-form batter, was given the title of men’s Test Player of the Year at the AB Medal night. He scored a staggering 1080 runs at an impressive 67.50 average in Test cricket in 2022. Trying to travel to India in 2011 for the Champions League Twenty20 match, Khawaja encountered visa issues in 2011 as well, when he was trying to travel to India for the Champions League Twenty20 match.

At the time, Australian officials asserted that the problem had nothing to do with Khawaja’s Pakistani ancestry. Khawaja tweeted about that encounter in 2011. “Indian visa department need to sort their issues out. Refusing to let me travel to India as an Australian, because I wasn’t born here. Wow,” he said in 2011.
