IND vs AUS Test Series: Indian Cricket Team training – The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has scheduled 5 full-fledged training sessions for the Indian team in Nagpur. Rohit Sharma and Co will assemble in Nagpur on February 2 with 5 straight days of training on the cards for the hosts. However, only two of those sessions will be held at the IND vs AUS 1st test venue, with BCCI making special arrangements at the old VCA Ground for the Men in Blue. “Rohit and Test players will assemble in Nagpur before the series. They will have a camp under Rahul in Nagpur. He will join the team after finishing the T20 series against NewZealand. It’s a fitness camp but before playing a Test series, it will serve as a good opportunity to practice with red ball,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

Team India will have 5 days of full training before the India vs Australia 1st test at Nagpur. The Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium will host a Test match after five years to kick off the Border Gavaskar Trophy. While Rohit Sharma and Co are scheduled to assemble in Nagpur on February 2, not all their sessions will be held at the venue.

As per reports, the BCCI has made special arrangements for the Indian team at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground. A former international venue, the stadium hosts Central Zone games. Vidarbha and Uttar Pradesh also occasionally play the venue. The ground has hosted 9 Tests, the last of which came in 2006.

India will have three closed-door sessions at the venue. Despite the lack of international cricket, the Civil Lines Ground is known to be in excellent condition. Rohit Sharma and Co will have a red ball grind under Rahul Dravid before heading to the new Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium. The Men in Blue will also have 2 more practice sessions at the centre wicket before the Test match.

After completing the ODI series, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Mohammad Shami and Mohammed Siraj are on a week-long break. They have returned home and will assemble in Mumbai before heading to Nagpur. KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja will join the team on February 2. Kl Rahul returns from leave for his wedding, while Jadeja has a fitness test set for February 1.

The four-match Test series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is also part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23. Jasprit Bumrah missing the series is a big blow for India as India must win the series 2-0 or 3-1 to qualify for the WTC Final in June. The first Test of the series begins on February 9 in Nagpur. The last two Tests are scheduled to be held across the first two weeks of March.
