The streaming powerhouse Netflix is now making their entertainment world bigger by adding a new independent app named Netflix Playground. The app will offer only fun-filled and safe mobile gaming experiences for kids younger than eight years old. The great thing about this new app from Netflix is that it comes free of cost with the regular Netflix subscription plan. It will have no ads or in-game purchases.
Netflix Launched New Gaming App for Younger Kids
For those who have been keeping track of Netflix’s venture into the world of gaming since 2021, it is obvious that it has not been an easy one. Following unsuccessful attempts at attracting more customers by developing games via its own game development companies Boss Fight and Spry Fox, Netflix is changing tack.
Rather than competing in the hardcore gaming market, the company plans to appeal to a very lucrative audience.

Instead of keeping these games hidden inside the main Netflix app, Playground is a completely separate application. Children will be able to engage with their favorite characters, such as Peppa Pig, Sesame Street, StoryBots, and Trash Truck, through fun and educational games such as coloring, coordination, and memory-matching.
What is even better is that it works offline as well. This is a huge deal for parents who want to entertain their children without the Internet.
The Roblox and YouTube Competition
Netflix is essentially trying to shift kids from just watching a show to actively playing inside that world. However, the platform faces fierce competition. To succeed, Netflix Playground must prove it can pull kids away from the highly engaging ecosystems of Roblox and the endless, free content of YouTube Kids.
