It will be an exciting street circuit that will have the famous Las Vegas strip. The last race that took place in the ‘Sin City’ was back in 1981 and 1982.

Back then, the track was built in the car park of the famous Caesars Palace casino. It had physical challenges like the anti-clockwise layout and the scorching heat. This time the track layout will be different from what we saw in 1981 and 1982.

However, this time the race will take place on the streets of Las Vegas. It includes a 2km stretch of the famous Las Vegas strip. The track features a 6.12km circuit that will make its way through the city.

Las Vegas will become a fixture on the F1 calendar from 2023. The Las Vegas Grand Prix will be a night race under the neon lights. But, this time the main event will take place on Saturday in place of Sunday.

This automatically means that the FP1 and FP2 sessions will move to Thursday. Meanwhile, the FP3 and Qualifying sessions will now happen on Friday. The drivers will need to arrive early and adjust to the timezone.

The circuit will feature famous hotels like the Venetian, Caesars Palace, and the Bellagio. It will also feature its iconic fountain and most importantly the Strip.

For the drivers as the 2km stretch comes to an end, they will have an overtaking opportunity while braking hard in a left-handed turn. On the track, there are two more straights. The track also features a high-speed corner sequence and a chicane too.

Ahead of the race, the track will be resurfaced to clear out any bumps on the roads. Plus, they will race on one side of the strip. The track will be 12-15m wide, which means it’ll have plenty of space for drivers to fight for positions.

There were 31 different layout variations made by the designers before agreeing to the final layout. The track features a 14-turn high-speed design.

Las Vegas will become the third race taking place in the United States in the 2023 Formula 1 calendar. It will be joined by Miami and Austin. Austin’s Circuit of The Americans is the only circuit that has a permanent racing facility. Meanwhile, Miami is to make its debut in Formula 1 this year as the race will take place on the 8th of May.
