MBSG vs MCFC 2-2: Thaer Krouma saves Mumbai City’s day at death vs Mohun Bagan in ISL opener

Mumbai City staged a late comeback, snatching a point with two second-half goals.

The Indian Super League (ISL 2024) season kicked off with a thrilling 2-2 draw between Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Mumbai City FC at the Salt Lake Stadium. The match was played in challenging conditions due to heavy rain.

Mumbai City FC staged a remarkable comeback in the second half, scoring two goals through Thaer Krouma and Jose Luis Espinosa Arroyo. Earlier in the first half, an own goal by Jose Luis Espinosa Arroyo had given Mohun Bagan the lead. Later, it was Alberto Rodriguez who gave the hosts a 2-0 lead which was later snatched by Mumbai.

This exciting draw sets the stage for a competitive and unpredictable ISL season.

The Previous Mumbai City squad is broken with some of their star players departing. For Mohun Bagan, on the prized additions is midfielder Apuia who switched trade from the Islanders to the Mariners. On the other hand, MCFC will strongly bank on their new captain Lallinzuala Chhnagte to lead the charge.
