However, this news will surely bring smiles to the faces of every Red and Gold fan as East Bengal now will have no objection to joining new investors. Shree Cement took over the reins of being the investor of the club as the Kolkata outfits made their first appearance in the Indian Super League two years ago.

However, over the span of two years, the smooth functioning between the club officials with that of the investor started deteriorating. With no room for more talks and considerations, talks about Shree Cement parting ways with East Bengal were evident. However, the final step which remained was the investor returning the sporting rights back to the club.

Terms started touring sour among the officials with that of the investors way back last season when Shree Cement was on the verge of parting their ways. However, at the very last moment upon special advice and consideration from the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Shree Cement stayed.

But with the recent season having concluded, Shree Cement had nothing left to do with the club, and thus on Tuesday, April 12, the sporting right have been returned to the club who are in their pursuit of finding their new investor as the team prepares themselves after their back to back disastrous performances in the ISL.

East Bengal’s pursuit of new investors and tie-ups have brought the Kolkata side closer to Bangladesh’s Basundhara Group. As per reports from various sources, an involvement between the two entities is eminent, however, nothing has been made official as of yet. The Basundhara group officials paid a visit to Kolkata and were impressed by the Kolkata side.

Following Basundhara Group’s visit, the officials of East Bengal too visit Bangladesh and it can be hoped that the talks among the two entities were definitely sweet. The only thing that remains to be done is for both the parties, is to agree on their contract so that East Bengal can commence building its team for the upcoming season.
