At only 17, Lamine Yamal has already won UEFA Euros, Kopa Trophy, Top 10 Ballon D'or Ranking and now the Golden Boy award.

Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has won the Golden Boy Award for 2024, a big honor for young football players in Europe. At just 17 years old, Yamal has become the youngest ever to win the prestigious award.

2024 belongs to Lamine Yamal!

This year has been amazing for Yamal. He helped Spain win the Euro 2024 championship and became an undroppable player for Barcelona, who are currently leading their league with a healthy 4-point lead. The Golden Boy Award is given out yearly by an Italian newspaper to the best player under 21 in Europe.

A group of 50 experienced sports journalists chose Yamal as the winner. They started with 100 young players and narrowed it down to 25 finalists. Another Barcelona player, Pau Cubarsi, was also in the final group. Cubarsi has also been an integral figure in Hansi Flick’s system, famous for the “off-side traps”.

Yamal follows other famous Barcelona players who won this award before him, like Pedri and Gavi. Some people are even comparing him to Lionel Messi, who won the same award back in 2005. This shows how special Yamal’s achievement is.

Besides the Golden Boy Award, Yamal also won the Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d’Or awards. These awards show that he is a very talented young football player with a bright future ahead of him. The awards ceremony also celebrated other talented players. Vicky Lopez won the Golden Girl trophy, and Aitana Bonmati received the Golden Woman award, making it a great night for Spanish football.
