De Jong was subject to a summer move to Manchester United, as coach Erik Ten Hag was eager to land the Dutch midfielder at Old Trafford, as the pair previously worked wonders together at Ajax. However, the 25-year-old refused the move as he desire to see how the club progresses under new boss Xavi this season, as former Manchester United striker claims that De Jong wanted to work with Xavi first, as the deal between the clubs was agreed to sign the Dutchman. However, the deal didn’t materialize as De Jong instead to be in Blaugrana colors, at least for this season.
