We have officially started the UEFA Euro 2024. The tournament has always boasted of some of the world’s most prolific goal scorers and this edition is no different. Players like Harry Kane, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Kylian Mbappe will all be in a race to win the coveted Golden Boot. Harry Kane has already thrown his hat in the ring with a goal against Denmark and now it remains to be seen how many more he scores. Netherland’s Cody Gakpo leads the chart with 3 goals in 4 games.
However, bizarrely, OWN goals actually top the charts with 10 of them being scored in Euro 2024 and is on its way to break the records. The current record stands at 11 own goals, set during the most recent tournament three years ago. Surprisingly, there have only been 29 own goals in the 17 Euros tournaments to far.
