Euro 2024 draw: Spain in group of death with Italy & Croatia, France paired with Netherlands

Euro 2024 Draw Over. Spain shares Group of Death with Italy & Croatia!

The countdown to the Euro Cup 2024 began with the draw on Saturday. The draw took place at a gala ceremony in Hamburg. The 21 qualified teams were divided into six groups in the draw, with room for three more teams to join the groups. The groups included some tricky fixtures. Hosts Germany were drawn in Group A along with Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland.

2012 Euro Champions Spain faces a tough task in Group B alongside Croatia, Italy and Albania.

Group C contains Gareth Southgate’s England. They were joined with Slovenia, Denmark and Serbia.

France and Netherlands were paired with each other in Group D. They will be joined by one of the playoff winners.

Group E will feature Belgium, Slovakia and Romania while a fourth team will be added in March after the playoffs.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal is the highlight of Group F, with Turkiye and Czechia being the other two.

Turkey, Play-off winner C (Georgia/Greece/Kazakhstan/Luxembourg), Portugal, Czech Republic

Earlier, UEFA announced the Euro 2024 prize money. The total prize money for Euro 2024 is estimated to be €331million – the same as Euro 2020 – and will be divided among the 24 teams.

The maximum prize money that can be won by the eventual winners is €28.25m – up from €24.2m – depending on whether they win all their group games and the knockout stage.

The eight teams that make it to the quarter-final will receive a prize of €2.5 million, with an additional €4 million going to the teams that qualify for the semi-finals. The winner of the semi-final will receive an additional €8 million, while the runner-up will receive €5 million.
