Chelsea began brilliantly and went near to opening the scoring following four minutes when Hakim Ziyech turned away from Daniel Amartey and took a long-range shot that went simply past the post.

Leicester then in their first attack of the match led in the seventh minute when Kasper Schmeichel sent a long ball to Timothy Castagne, and his deflection fell into the way of James Maddison who curled his ideal shot past Edouard Mendy.

The goal by the Foxes stunned the home fans however Chelsea kept on ruling the possession and came close to scoring an equalizer a couple of moments later. Trevoh Chalobah’s strong long-range strike was acrobatically saved by Schmeichel.

Romelu Lukaku came close to scoring as he got a great ball from N’Golo Kante but was a mili second late on his shot as Amartey’s block saved the day for the visitors.

But it was Marcos Alonso who saved the day for the home team. He equalized through Reece James’ cross and took the shot on the volley for his fourth goal of the campaign.

Chelsea continued with their dominance in the second half as Lukaku again came close to scoring. A beautiful cross by Hakim Ziyech into the box found Lukaku’s head but his header was narrowly wide.

Chelsea kept on pushing for a goal in the ending stages of the match yet Leicester, held firm, and the hosts’ hopeless night was summarized by a Kai Havertz air-shot in the end.
