Following reports that Alves had initially denied knowing his accuser and later claimed that their sexual encounter was consensual, his wife has removed most of their photos from her Instagram account.

Alves was fired from his position at the Mexican club UNAM Pumas after being placed in custody by a Barcelona judge. He has been imprisoned since January 20 after a 23-year-old woman accused him of assaulting her at the luxurious Sutton venue in the city on December 30. A judge ruled that Alves should remain in custody, and he has been held at a jail outside of Barcelona ever since.

Alves, who had two stints with Barcelona before joining the Mexican team UNAM Pumas in 2020, denied knowing his accuser prior to his arrest. However, during a court hearing, he reportedly admitted to having consensual sex with the woman.
Following her husband’s arrest, Joana spoke out, saying that she had lost “the two pillars in my life.” Alves flew to Barcelona to be questioned about the allegations.
According to reports, the woman claimed that Alves had slapped and raped her in the bathroom of the nightclub. She also allegedly mentioned seeing an intimate tattoo of the footballer while he was partially undressed. The woman tearfully informed her friends, who then alerted the bouncers and subsequently the police.
As a result of his arrest, Pumas terminated Alves’ contract, and they are reportedly seeking £ 4 million in damages from him for breach of contract.
