Roger Federer has started off his farewell match on a great note as along with Rafael Nadal, he has won the first set in the doubles against Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock. The set started off with both the pairs holding their first four service games, Federer and Nadal appeared a bit rusty but they ensured they didn’t make it easy for their opponents. The American duo came close to getting a break at 4-4, but Nadal-Federer pair came back to save the game. They then broke the American duo to take the first set 6-4.

In the second set, the American pair started off by breaking the European duo 2-1. But the Federe-Nadal duo came back soon to break the American pair to level the set 3-3. From then on both the pairs managed to hold on to their service game to take the set into the tie-breaker which the American duo won.
In the ensuing third set tie-breaker, both the pairs fought brilliantly but the American duo managed to spoil Federer’s farwwell part by winning it 11-9.
Soon, Federer bid adieu to the sport as he was in tears, embracing every player present on the court. He couldn’t hold on to his tears as he gave his farewell speech. “In my vision I was never able to talk, but now I am doing better, he said, fighting tears.
Speaking about his wife and family, he said, “She could have stopped me long time ago but she kept me playing. Without my mom, I wouldn’t have been here, so thanks to my parents. It is a fantastic night, thanks to everybody.”
