Will MS Dhoni play in IPL 2025? CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan’s response might relieve ‘Thala’ fans

MS Dhoni had an exceptional IPL 2024 for CSK, where he scored 161 runs in 14 matches, at an average of 53 and a strike-rate of 220.

If one was to ask an astrologer a question about their future, they would perhaps ask about their profession, or maybe love life. But CSK fans are built different. All they care about is, whether Thala MS Dhoni will return to play for CSK in IPL 2025 or not? Unfortunately, even the CSK boss Kasi Viswanathan doesn’t know much in this regard.

“I do not know. It is a question only MS [Dhoni] can answer,” Viswanathan said. “We have always respected the decisions taken by MS. We have left it to him and as all of you know he has always taken his decisions and announced it at the appropriate time.

We do expect that we will get a decision as and when he decides. But we are very hopeful he’ll be available for CSK next year,” he added. That is the view and expectation of the fans and mine,” he opined.

Ruturaj Gaikwad Takes Over from MS Dhoni

It was at the beginning of the the year that MS Dhoni handed over the reigns of CSK to Gaikwad. And the youngster also did fairly well with the team. Even though they failed to qualify for the playoffs, yet, they finished fifth on the points table, winning seven matches, and losing as many.

Many had expected MSD to retire from IPL at the end of the season, but the announcement did not come from him. That came as a much-needed relief for the CSK fans, who suspected the end of the Dhoni era with many reports surfacing, regarding the same.
