WI vs UGA: West Indies bowlers help set-up huge win for co-hosts against minnows Uganda

Akeal Hosein was the pick of the bowlers for the Caribbean team, with the pacer picking up a fifer.

Co-hosts West Indies on Sunday got the better of Uganda in a thumping win to ensure they remained close on heels of leaders Afghanistan in Group D. West Indies, who had a nervy outing against Papua New Guinea in their T20 World Cup opener, came all guns blazing against Uganda. The Rovman Powell-led side bowled Uganda out for 39 runs to win the tie by 134 runs.

Team effort helps West Indies put up respectable total

Batting first, West Indies rode on Johnson Charles’ 44 while almost every batter contributed to the scoreboard. Courtesy of the team effort, West Indies reached 173/5 in the 20 overs.

Uganda surrender in front of fiery bowling line-up

While the target did not look that big in the era of T20 Cricket where 200 runs get chased almost everyday, scoring 174 runs proved an uphill task for Uganda who kept losing wickets right from the start.

Wickets kept falling in almost every over as West Indies pacer Akeil Hosein bagged a fifer with Alzarri Joseph, Andre Russell and Romario Shepherd all joining the party. Uganda were all out for 39 runs, with the score being the lowest total in T20 World Cup.
