Co-hosts, Team India are set to face Pakistan in Group A match on February 15 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The rivalry between India and Pakistan is always one of the most anticipated clashes in world cricket. Although the two sides now only meet in ICC events like the World Cups and Asia Cup, after almost a year, the two sides are once again set to revive the rivalry as they are scheduled to play on February 15 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Furthermore, the venue adds to the rivalry, which saw them last play at this surface in an Asia Cup Super Four match in 2023.

While the Men in Blue have dominated their arch-rivals across formats, let’s recall the last time these two sides played each other at the R Premadasa Stadium. Featuring in the Asia Cup 2023, which was played in ODI format, India dominated all facets of the game and registered a comprehensive victory by 228 runs.

Virat Kohli & KL Rahul’s centuries help India post 356/2 vs Pakistan in Colombo

For the unversed, Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first. As a result, the Men in Blue were put to add the score on the board. Skipper Rohit Sharma and opening batsman Shubman stitched a 100-run stand for the opening wicket before getting out at the score of 56 and 58 respectively. After their wickets, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul stitched an unbeaten stand, hitting centuries to post a competitive total on board.

Kuldeep Yadav crafts India’s biggest win vs Pakistan

After a brilliant batting performance by the Men in Blue, it was Kuldeep Yadav show in Colombo as a fifer from the chinaman got India to a convincing win. Pakistan who were put to chase 157-run target, never really got into the game. Moreover, Kuldeep Yadav, who was in his prime, finished with the figures of 5/25 in his eight-over spell.

Bumrah, who was bowling in ODIs for the first time after injury break, discomfited Pakistan’s top order, along with Mohammed Siraj, who also ramped up the pressure. But after the rain delay, it was Kuldeep Yadav, who compounded on their woes, thus leading India to their then biggest win by run margin.
