Following their win, the team held a cake-cutting celebration in the Indian dressing room for Hardik. Virat Kohli, known for his strict dietary discipline, allowed himself to indulge and partake in the cake. Following the cake-cutting ceremony, Hardik Pandya expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you, everyone, for the wishes, means a lot to me to play on my birthday for the first time in my life. It was special from my fans and, at the same point of time, my teammates for showing me so much love, and, at the same point of time, feeling happy that I was born 30 years back. Thank you.”

During the same match, Virat Kohli achieved his second consecutive half-century in the World Cup 2023, maintaining an unbeaten score of 55 from 56 deliveries. India secured a convincing eight-wicket win with 15 overs to spare. At the same time, skipper Rohit Sharma notched his 31st century in ODI cricket, surpassing Ricky Ponting’s record, while scoring a brilliant 131 runs from 84 balls.

“It was a good win for us. Important to get the momentum at the start. You will be put under pressure. There will be a spell from the opposition and we’ll have to absorb the pressure. We absorbed it well. For now, it’s leaving what’s happened aside and move on,” Rohit Sharma said after the match.
