Check all World Cup Squads as India & Australia revise squads after injury setbacks

The final deadline for the World Cup 2023 squad has been set as 28 September.

World Cup 2023 Squads: Indian Cricket Team has revised squad for World Cup with Axar Patel ruled out of the tournament. Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has come in as a replacement. Earlier, Australia announced a revised squad with Marnus Labuchagne replacing Ashton Agar. Sri Lankan and Bangladesh were the last teams to officially announce the squad before the deadline day on Sep 28.

For Sri Lanka, they have been dealt two major blows. Star spinner Wanindu Hasaranga and pacer Dusmantha Chameera have been ruled out with injuries. The only good news is that Maheesh Theekshana is in the squad despite fitness issues. Chamika Karunaratne is the only traveling reserve. Bangladesh have also announced the squad with Tamim Iqbal missing out.

Earlier, India, Pakistan and Australia announced a 15-man squad for the World Cup 2023.

Notably, The International Cricket Council (ICC) had set 3 deadlines to announce the final 15-member squad.

Teams were allowed to submit their preliminary squad by August 29. Notably, teams do not have to formally submit their provisional World Cup squad to the ICC until September 5. Further changes can be made up until 28 September. However, any replacements after September 28 will need approval from the ICC.

The initial squad submission deadlines at our tournaments are 30 days before the support periods start. The support periods start one week before the tournaments,” ICC informed InsideSport.

Changes may be made before the support period without seeking permission, but once the support period kicks in, the Event Technical Committee needs to approve replacements,” ICC added.
