Wanindu Hasaranga officially out from IPL 2024, SRH ropes in Lankan spinner Vijayakanth Viyaskanth

Wanindu Hasaranga, who was in exceptional form recently, has been ruled out of entire IPL 2024. In the 26 games he played in IPL, the tweaker bagged 35 wickets at an average of 21.37.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have suffered a setback with star Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga being officially ruled out of the ongoing IPL 2024 season due to chronic heel pain.

However, Hyderabad have moved swiftly to find a replacement. They have signed another fellow Sri Lankan leg-spinner Vijayakanth Viyaskanth for the remainder of the IPL 2024 season. Viyaskanth is roped in at his base price of INR 50 lac.

Hasaranga, who wasn’t available for any matches this season due to the injury, is a significant loss for the Hyderabad franchise. Known for his leg-spin wizardry and some hard-hitting abilities, he was expected to be a key player when available. The Lankan maestro was bought for INR 1.50 crore at the IPL 2024 mini-auction by the 2016 champions.
