Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell & other RCB players play football in warm-up ahead of their clash vs RR

On the morning of their matchday against the Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru players were seen enjoying a football session in Jaipur.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are all set to take on the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a much-awaited IPL 2024 encounter today, Saturday, April 6, at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Adding a touch of fun to their pre-match routine, the RCB players were seen unwinding and engaging in a friendly football match during their morning training session. Photos posted on the RCB’s official X (formerly known as Twitter) handle captured the light-hearted moment.

This friendly competition saw the likes of Virat Kohli, along with teammates Cameron Green and Tom Curran, forming one team. Meanwhile, the likes of Glenn Maxwell, Anuj Rawat, Reece Topley and Will Jacks were seen playing for the other. It is not the first time that a cricket team is seen playing football in training. Even the Indian cricket team often engage in a friendly gig prior to their international matches.

What happened the last time RR hosted RCB in IPL?

The last time these two ‘Royal’ franchises met in Jaipur was during IPL 2023 when Bengaluru thrashed the hosts by a monumental margin of 112 runs. It was a complete batting and bowling performance by RCB.

After opting to bat first, RCB rode on fifties from Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell. Anuj Rawat even came up with a cameo of 11-ball 29 to propel the total to 171/5.

In reply, Rajasthan endured a horror show. All four of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson and Devdutt Padikkal went on single digit scores as Wayne Parnell bagged three wickets. Eventually, RR were bundled out for a paltry total of 59, their lowest total in India.
