T20 World Cup: Can Sri Lanka repeat their 2014 performance? The biggest event of the shortest format, the ICC T20 World Cup, is finally back after five long years. All the teams look well set to leave an impact and are eyeing a trophy win. While eight teams have already been named in the Super 12, the four slots are to be filled by the top two teams from each of the two Groups. Sri Lanka, the 2014 T20 WC Champions, are on the list of teams to play the qualifiers.

Sri Lanka begin their campaign from the first round alongside the Netherlands, Namibia, and Ireland in Group A. Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, and Oman form Group B.

While all other teams justify their positions, Sri Lanka has been completely the opposite of the champion team they were in 2014. The board has kept on searching for captains in different faces but nothing has worked.
Dasun Sanaka to lead Sri Lanka: However, the recent appointee, Dasun Shanaka has somewhat revived the team and will be leading the charge in the marquee event as well. But the biggest question is that will they be able to repeat the World Cup-winning performance like 2014?
The team started things on a positive note as they defeated Bangladesh and Papua New Guinea in the warm-up games by 4 wickets and 39 runs respectively.
