Barbados to host India vs England and T20 World Cup 2024 final? There is chaos in Cricket West Indies regarding T20 WC. While the Barbados Cricket Association President has claimed that the country will host the big ticket IND vs ENG, a semifinal and the final, Cricket West Indies and the ICC are not on the same line. In fact, the CWI and the ICC have rejected such claims.
T20 World Cup 2024 kick starts on June 4 in West Indies and the USA with final slated for June 30. While the ICC has finalised venues, the match allocation is yet to take place. Instead, Barbados have been confirmed to host at least one semifinal.
Conde Riley, the president of the Barbados Cricket Association, has claimed that he has documentation from ICC to support his claims.
“Yes, that’s correct. We have documentation from the ICC and CWI suggesting that Barbados will be the venue for the final. Based on the documents from CWI and the ICC, Barbados will host the final, a semi-final, and several games, including matches involving India and England,” Riley told Cricbuzz the Mason & Guest Radio.

However, ICC informed Cricbuzz that no such decisions have been made. Even Cricket West Indies denied allocating T20 World Cup 2024 final to Barbados. Instead, Barbados, Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago are in the running to host the final. A final decision on that will be made in November on the sidelines of the ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad.
“Based on the submissions to the ICC for consideration, the venues for the final and the semi-finals would be Barbados, Guyana, and Trinidad and Tobago. There has been no communication from the ICC to Cricket West Indies regarding the finals,” the CWI president told Mason & Guest Radio.
Barbados has been the preferred destination for India Cricket Team in the past. India have chosen to have a camp there during the West Indies tour. Earlier, for 2007 World Cup, Team India also camped at the Kennington Oval in Barbados.
CWI infighting
However, with 8 countries hosting the T20 World Cup 2024, there is room for chaos. And the infighting of Cricket West Indies is only the beginning.
One of the CWI members lashed out at Conde Riley, saying Cricket West Indies should get rid of him.
“I can confidently say that Conde Riley often fails to grasp the key distinctions between a proposal, a discussion, and a final decision. He has a history of conflicting his role as a CWI Director with his position as President of the BCA. CWI needs to part ways with senior directors like Riley, whose effectiveness has dwindled rapidly in recent years,” the CWI member told Cricbuzz.
It should be noted that New York’s Nassau County doesn’t yet have a stadium but it is front runner to host the mega India vs Pakistan clash. The IND vs PAK clash is supposed to happen at Eisenhower Park in Nassau County after local residents objected to Bronx.
