Suresh Raina has backed Shivam Dube to play the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 after his heroics in IND vs AFG 1st T20I in Mohali. Shivam Dube stroked his second T20I fifty as team India completed an easy win over Afghanistan on Thursday. Dube was also adjudged player of the match for his antics with both bat and the ball.
“Shivam Dube played an all-round role in the match. MS Dhoni used Shivam Dube well in the IPL and today he played some excellent shots in the middle. He has a self-belief to clear the ropes anywhere. He is showing form and should make the most of it. In the Caribbean the wickets are slow and he can be used as a floater with the ball,” Suresh Raina said in a conversation with Jio Cinema.
“If he does well in the next 2-3 months then he can also go on to win Player of the Tournament award in T20 World Cup,” Raina added.
I know I can hit big sixes: Dube
Shivam Dube who scored 60 off just 40 balls with the bat, also took one wicket and gave away just 9 runs in his two overs spell. “I think it was really cold. Yeah, but, I enjoyed playing at this ground. I was batting at 4 after a long time. There was a bit of pressure on me, but I was clear in my mind that I had to play my game. From my style, I feel a bit of pressure on the first 2 to 3 balls, but after that, I think about the ball and don’t think too much. I know I can hit big sixes in T20s, so I know I can get runs anyway,” said Dube after the match.
