After being ignored by the selectors, Rahul Tripathi had the perfect opportunity to silence his critics and hit out at the selection committee by showing his class in the match against Punjab Kings, but that was not to be as he was dismissed for only 20 runs.
The 31-year-old did not look in touch at all in this game. After scoring only 20 runs in his first 17 deliveries, Tripathi eventually lost his wicket in the third delivery of the ninth over. Harpreet Brar bowled a poor ball that was angling down the leg side, but the batter from Maharashtra failed to utilize it and ended up giving a simple catch to Shikhar Dhawan. He looked visibly distraught after the dismissal, as this wicket might have further depleted his chances of making it to the Indian team in the near future.
