It was an emotional evening that saw performances from global superstars such as Robbie Williams, Ed Sheeran and Elton John, his former teammates and close friends recalled countless stories, while his family and children revealed their heartache.

Cricket greats from Australia were joined by internationals from across the world, including legends Allan Border, Mark Taylor, Merv Hughes, Nasser Hussain and Brian Lara who all were asked to describe Warne in one word.
Border, who was Warne’s first Test captain, labelled him as a “genius”, while his second Test captain Taylor, someone the spinner said was the best skipper he played under, described him as “genuine”.
It was then that Hughes, who played alongside Warne at Victoria, left the crowd in stitches as he called his former teammate as a “bogan”.

Hussain, who captained England, said Warne was an “entertainer” while Lara, the West Indian great whose battles with the leg-spinner were legendary, said the Australian was the “king”.
A video tribute by former Indian player Sachin Tendulkar was also projected onto screens during the memorial service for Shane Warne at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
MCG stand officially renamed after Warne- The well-loved Australian cricketer died at a luxury resort in Thailand earlier this month from a suspected heart attack aged 52, eliciting shock and grief from his millions of fans as well as prime ministers, rock stars and fellow players.
A stand at the MCG was to be officially re-named after Warne, who in the eyes of many is second only to Bradman in Australia’s long list of sporting greats. Some fans attending wore their cricket kit, while others donned Warne T-shirts. Emotions ran high as they snapped pictures in front of his statue outside the MCG.
