CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan was surprised and miffed with Capri Global-owned Sharjah Warriors naming him in the roster. Moeen Ali was signed up on a $400,000 contract at SAT20 League, the second most expensive after Liam Livingstone and Jos Buttler.

“We just came to know. We will find out from the player,” Viswanathan told Cricbuzz.

SAT20 League vs ILT20 League: CSK CEO very miffed with Moeen Ali for joining Sharjah Warriors & Johannesburg, South Africa T20 League, IPL 2023

The matter of fact is that, if he signs up for CSA T20 League, he will not be able to play for UAE T20 League or vice versa. Both leagues will run simultaneously during the January-February window. But as per reports, Moeen has already confirmed his participation for UAE T20 League whenever he is not playing for England.

InsideSport understands that CSK will hold talks with Moeen Ali to understand, “What’s going on.”

“It has completely taken us by surprise to be honest. It was a done deal with Moeen. We came to know when the Sharjah team announced their squad. We are holding talks with Moeen to understand what is really going on. For sure, he cannot play for both,” a CSK official told InsideSport.

At CSK’s Johannesburg franchise, Moeen Ali was supposed to be reunited with his former teammate Faf du Plessis besides current CSK teammate Maheesh Theekshana. At Sharjah Warriors, he will have his England teammates Dawid Malan and Chris Waokes besides Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Chris Benjamin.
