Sanju Samson out of IPL 2025? RR captain won’t travel to Bengaluru for IPL 2025 clash vs RCB

Sanju Samson also missed the last game for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) due to injury vs LSG.

A concerning news is coming on the way for the Sanju Samson and Rajasthan Royals (RR) fans. The RR captain, who missed the last game, will continue to remain on the sidelines. RR, who have lost two back-to-back tight games, are already missing Samson but will be without their leader in their next game. Rajasthan travel to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Thursday, April 24.

Samson is currently undergoing recovery and will remain at the team’s home base (Jaipur) with select RR medical staff,” the franchise said in a statement. “As part of his ongoing rehab process, he will not be travelling to Bangalore for the upcoming match against RCB. The team management is monitoring his progress closely and will take a game-by-game approach regarding his return to action.

No Samson, more chances for Suryavanshi

Sanju Samson’s campaign got off to a sizzling start, with a 66 off 37 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad that left fans eager for more. Though he continued to notch up promising starts, his recent outing against DC was cut short when he retired hurt on 31 off 19 balls.

With Samson’s fitness uncertain, Rajasthan Royals might turn to an unlikely opening partnership – the explosive Yashasvi Jaiswal and teenage whiz kid Vaibhav Suryavanshi, whose debut fireworks lit up the IPL. The 14-year-old left everyone awestruck with his magnificent IPL debut against LSG. Can this youthful duo fire up RR’s batting lineup in Bengaluru?

How did Sanju Samson get injured?

The Rajasthan Royals captain retired hurt during a promising innings against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 16. Chasing 189, Samson had looked in fluent touch. He appeared set for a big innings until Samson attempted to attack spinner Vijraj Nigam in the sixth over. On the third delivery, he went for a cut, missed the ball, and immediately clutched his ribs. The physio was rushed in, and a brief break followed.

Despite returning to face one more ball, which he hit powerfully to long-off, Samson didn’t attempt a run and signalled toward the dugout, grimacing in pain as he walked off the field. After the match, Samson provided an update, saying the injury felt “alright,” but he wasn’t ready to return to bat. “It feels alright now. We will observe it tomorrow and see how it is,” he said.

Earlier in the season, Samson had been sidelined with a finger fracture, only returning as a wicketkeeper after three matches.
