Rohit Sharma, who played in just 3rd ODI, collects IND vs AUS player of series award
Rohit Sharma collected the player of the series award on behalf of Shubman Gill, as the right-hand batter was unavailable

Team India skipper won hearts off the field owing to his adorable gesture of handing a trophy to KL Rahul during the post-match presentation after the conclusion of the third ODI. Rohit played only the last ODI in Rajkot, and in the other two matches, Rahul led the team. However, the team India skipper also collected the player of the series award despite playing only one game.

The reason why Rohit collected that award was due to Shubman Gill, who was missing from the Rajkot ODI. Gill was given rest for the last match against Australia owing to workload management. However, in the two matches Gill played, he scored 174 runs and was adjudged the player of the series. The 24-year-old scored a sparkling ton in Indore and before that scored a sublime 74 in Mohali.

Due to Gill being unavailable, Rohit Sharma collected the award on behalf of him. Speaking about the third ODI in Rajkot, Australia put on a dominating display with both bat and ball in hand. With the bat, Mitchell Marsh, Steve Smith, and David Warner scored blazing fifties. With the ball in hand, Glenn Maxwell was the pick of the bowlers, picking up four wickets.
