Rinku Singh becomes victim of Impact player rule, loses spot in India’s T20 World Cup squad

A BCCI source tells PTI that KKR finisher Rinku Singh lost his place in India's T20 World Cup squad due to impact player rule in IPL

KKR star Rinku Singh has been left out of India’s 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, which was announced on Tuesday. The prolific finisher has been named among the reserve players instead. As per a BCCI source, the impact player rule is said to have cost Rinku a place in the squad.

Rinku Singh falls prey to Impact player rule?

No doubt, Rinku paid the price for the Impact Player Rule. He is plain and simple unlucky. Hardik might be in poor form but he is still India’s best seam bowling all-rounder and it would have been a risk dropping him considering he is the only one who has bowled,” a BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

In nine matches in IPL 2024, Rinku Singh has managed to score just 123 runs off 82 deliveries while other players competing for the spot have fared way better. Of the 123 runs, he has scored nine fours and 6 sixes.

A stellar run in 2023 seems to be overshadowed by either Rinku getting lesser chances to bat in IPL 2024 or having thrown away opportunities.
