Top 10 T20 World Cup Squads

Australia T20 WC squad (9/10)

Let’s speak about the 2021 T20 World Cup champions, Australia. Aussie has been known for their rock-solid performances at mega events. There is no doubt that this time also they have given preference to deserving players rather than star names. In their 15-man squad, Australia is not going with Steve Smith or Jason Behrendorff. Instead, they have packed the squad with names like Tim David and Cameron Green.

Looking at their squad, they have everything from fiery batters like David Warner and Travis Head to experienced bowlers like Pat Cummins and Mitchell Marsh. The team looks well-balanced, as they have also added Jake Fraser-McGurk to their reserves.

Squad : Mitchell Marsh (c), Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, David Warner, Adam Zampa.

India T20 WC squad (8/10)

Speaking of the Indian team, the 15-member squad is full of star players such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah. However, one issue that critics have noted is the lack of specialist bowlers for the death overs. While they have Bumrah, there is no reputed specialist to accompany him in the late overs.

Apart from that, the team looks solid, with batters like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma. The middle order also appears lethal, as does the spin department. Insidesport has rated the Indian lineup 8 out of 10.

Squad : Rohit Sharma (C), Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (WK), Sanju Samson (WK), Hardik Pandya (VC), Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.

England T20 WC squad (8/10)

England will touch the ground as defending champions, although they had a miserable ODI campaign last year. However, it is also a fact that the team has consistently performed well in the shorter format of the game. Speaking of their camp, as always, they have a strong batting lineup with players like Jos Buttler, Will Jacks, and Phil Salt, who can dismantle opposing bowlers.

They also have handy pacers. Although one department where they seem to be lacking is their spin department. With only one wicket-taking spinner in the form of Adil Rashid. According to reports, West Indies pitches will be helpful for spinners, and if this holds true, the English team might suffer from this deficiency.

Squad : Jos Buttler (c), Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Jonathan Bairstow, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Ben Duckett, Tom Hartley, Will Jacks, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Reece Topley, Mark Wood.

Pakistan T20 WC squad (7/10)

Talking about the Pakistan squad, yes, they have a pace-heavy camp now. As they have picked bowlers like Mohammad Amir, Naseem Shah, and Shaheen Shah Afridi. But again, batting is going to be the department for them to think about.

Pakistan heavily relies on Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan because they are known to be long-haulers in the PAK team. Apart from them, no one usually plays longer innings. It will be tricky turf for them, with a strong bowling lineup and a light batting troop.

Squad : Babar Azam (captain), Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Rizwan, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Usman Khan.

New Zealand T20 WC squad (7/10)

Looking at the Kiwi Squad, the team has been packed with some experienced names like Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, and Mitchell Santner. It’s also right to say that the team has been filled with many all-rounders as well, players like Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Jimmy Neesham, and Rachin Ravindra. The Black Caps have a good mix of players who can contribute with both bat and ball.

Although, the lack of big hitters in the middle overs might trouble them. They do have players like Daryl Mitchell and Devon Conway who can sort out the issue. It will be interesting to see whether the Kiwis can win the T20 World Cup or not.

Squad : Kane Williamson (c), Finn Allen, Trent Boult, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee.

South Africa T20 WC squad (6/10)

The Proteas unit looks like a pretty level-headed squad. As they do have big, lethal hitters like Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller, who can take on the bowlers in the middle overs. Also, they have a strong pace attack led by Kagiso Rabada. Although having a lack of spinners may trouble them as they only have Keshav Maharaj as their spin wicket-taking option. As mentioned earlier, spinners are going to be every team’s need in the USA and West Indies. Going with a lone spinner might cause trouble.

Squad : Aiden Markram (c), Ottniel Baartman, Gerald Coetzee, Quinton de Kock, Bjorn Fortuin, Reeza Hendricks, Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, David Miller, Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tabraiz Shamsi, Tristan Stubbs.

Afghanistan T20 WC squad (6/10)

Known for their spin bowling attack, Afghanistan will also look to make an impact, or, rightly, they are also deserving candidates. As the team has impressed everyone with their cricketing attributes.

Looking at their squad for the T20 World Cup, they once again backed spin as their main weapon. Having Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman as bullets. They also have some strong, aggressive batters, but still, the squad looks pretty inexperienced, especially in the middle order, which might become a worrying sign for the camp in the future.

Squad : Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Ibrahim Zadran, Azmatullah Omarzai, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Ishaq, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Karim Janat, Rashid Khan (c), Nangyal Kharoti, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Noor Ahmad, Naveen-ul-Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Fareed Ahmad Malik

West Indies T20 WC squad (5/10)

Two times Champions, they are finally getting back on track. As the team is doing pretty well lately in the shorter format of the game. Since the World Cup is coming to their backyard, there is an ocean of hope for them.

Looking at their squad for the T20 World Cup, the team has backed a few spinners, as they know the conditions pretty well. The team looks good on paper, but the absence of a long-hauler in the batting lineup might create trouble for them.

Squad : Rovman Powell (c), Alzarri Joseph, Johnson Charles, Roston Chase, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, Shai Hope, Akeal Hossain, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Gudakesh Motie, Nicholas Pooran, Andre Russell, Sherfane Rutherford, Romario Shepherd

Sri Lanka T20 WC squad (5/10)

The Lions have an impressive bowling unit with a mix of experienced spinners and fast bowlers, but the batting looks timid. In the past, the team has also struggled due to poor batting performances from the top to the middle.

Although there are a few trustworthy players, such as Pathum Nissanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama, whom Sri Lanka can rely on in the first 10 overs, but overall  the team looks shy when it comes to aggressive batting.

Squad : Wanindu Hasaranga (C), Charith Asalanka (VC), Kusal Mendis, Pathum Nissanka, Kamindu Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Angelo Mathews, Dasun Shanaka, Dhananjaya De Silva, Maheesh Theekshana, Dunith Wellalage, Dushmantha Chameera, Nuwan Thushara, Matheesha Pathirana, Dilshan Madushanka

Bangladesh T20 WC squad (3/10)

Talking about the Bangladesh Tigers, the team has been struggling with the latest developments as they recently lost the series against the USA. Their team for the T20 World Cup looks decent. But there are many loopholes that can be seen easily, especially when it comes to batting.

The batters are failing to develop good starts to big totals, and there is inconsistency in their spin attack. Although they do have hope from Mustafizur Rahman, who is going through a golden patch, But overall, the team looks pretty unstable at the moment, which may disrupt their T20 World Cup campaign.

Squad : Najmul Hossain Shanto (C), Taskin Ahmed, Litton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Shakib Al Hasan, Tawhid Hridoy, Mahmudullah Riyad, Jaker Ali Anik, Tanvir Islam, Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
