Quetta Gladiators name former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed as Team Director for PSL 2025

Safaraz Ahmed had won Quetta Gladiators their first and only PSL title in 2019.

2019 Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions Quetta Gladiators (QG) have named their former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed as their team director for the upcoming 2025 season. Having been with the Gladiators since the start of the tournament in 2016, he was let go last year.

The wicketkeeper batter also went unsold in the PSL 10 auction. Although Sarfaraz hasn’t announced his retirement, being named the team director virtually confirms that he won’t play anymore.

Sarfaraz will work with another wicketkeeper and former Pakistan captain Moin Khan, who is QG’s head coach for PSL. He’ll also work with former Pakistan fast bowling coach Shaun Tait.

Having worked with both before, Sarfaraz should find it easy to excel as the team director. The 37-year-old hasn’t played with captain Saud Shakeel in the PSL, but they have played together for Pakistan and in domestic cricket.

“Today I would like to announce Sarfaraz as Team Director of Quetta Gladiators. Sarfaraz led QG really well as a captain, and I am hopeful he will do the same as Director too. The combination of Moin Khan as head coach and Sarfaraz as team director would do wonders for us,” said Omar Nadeem.

Having been a great server for QG and seen as one of Pakistan’s best captains in the last 15-20 years, Sarfaraz should slot in perfectly as Quetta Gladiators team director.
