Asia Cup 2023: IND vs PAK: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly asked for compensation from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) secretary Jay Shah for incurring losses due to the washed-out games during the ongoing Asia Cup 2023.
According to a report on GeoTV, PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf sent a letter addressed to the ACC president, objecting to the their decision of holding the Super 4 matches of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 in Colombo instead of Hambantota despite concerns over bad weather.
The PCB’s letter also sought clarification on who made the decision, stating, “It is still not clear who has taken this decision and, in this regard, a clarification is demanded.”
PCB highlighted the potential loss of gate receipts and the negative impact on the ACC Event’s brand value if matches gets washed out in Colombo. The PCB insisted that the ACC should take responsibility for the washed-out matches, cover any incremental costs, and reimburse the PCB for lost gate revenue.
Initially, the ACC had announced that the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 matches would take place in Hambantota due to bad weather in Colombo. However, this decision was later reversed, with the matches being scheduled to proceed in Colombo as originally planned.
The PCB is now facing the logistical challenges due to the abrupt venue changes for the Asia Cup 2023 matches.

Earlier, former PCB Chief Najam Sethi had lashed out at BCCI Secretary Jay Shah for scheduling Asia Cup matches in Sri Lanka despite the forecast of rain.
In a thread of tweets, Najam Sethi called out Jay Shah and expressed his disappointment at the selection of venues for Asia Cup 2023.
In his tweet, Sethi wrote that he requested the BCCI not to schedule matches in Sri Lanka due to the monsoon season. However, the BCCI was adamant and the ACC finally zeroed in on Sri Lanka as second venue despite rain threat.
