‘One of the greatest T20 players’: Brian Lara urges India to bat Suryakumar Yadav at no. 3 in T20 World Cup

Suryakumar Yadav is the no.1 ranked batter in the shortest format of the game and has the ability to turn matches on its head courtesy of his innovative batting.

Brian Lara, a former captain of the West Indies, selected Suryakumar Yadav to bat at no. 3 for India in the T20 World Cup. Lara celebrated the No. 1 T20I batter, stating that if India doesn’t place Suryakumar in the top 3, they will be wasting a valuable resource. India’s 15-man T20 World Cup squad was revealed by the BCCI, and Suryakumar returned to the team following a protracted injury layoff.

If Suryakumar is given the opportunity to bat for ten to fifteen overs during T20Is, Lara told PTI that he can win matches on his own.

My one advice, and I don’t know if you’re going to like it or not, but Sky has to bat at three. He just has to bat at three. He is one of the greatest T20 players in the game. And you speak to players like Sir Viv (Vivian Richards), and he will tell you he used to want to get out there in the middle,” Lara said.

And I feel that that’s the same thing with SKY. So, get in on it as quickly as possible. He is not an opener, get him out there and if he can bat for 10–15 overs, you know what is going to happen,” he added.
