New Zealand completed a clinical victory against an inexperienced South Africa as they won NZ vs SA 2nd Test by 7 wickets. The win marks Kiwis’ historic first-ever series win against the Proteas. A 133-run 4th innings knock from a calm and composed Kane Williamson powered the hosts to an easy win at Hamilton.
NZ vs SA 2nd Test: Williamson powers Kiwis to historic series win
After surviving an early scare with Devon Conway’s departure on Day 3, the hosts started off Day 4 on a positive note. Williamson went on to score his 7th ton in seven games and his 32nd overall, becoming the fastest to do so.
Tom Latham managed to stick around for quite a bit but was ultimately dismissed for 30 runs. Southpaw Rachin Ravindra couldn’t replicate his 1st Test heroics as Piedt struck. Will Young scored a gritty fifty as he stuck around with the skipper to finish the game off for the hosts.
For the Proteas, Dan Piedt was the star with the ball, picking the only three wickets the side could manage to take on Day 4. All three sessions were dominated by a well-balanced New Zealand, powered by Williamson.
