Rohit Sharma has batted with Shikhar Dhawan for 117 times in ODIs, the Indian skipper feels he, & Dhawan share best bond off the field as well, and that is the reason for they being a hit pair

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, or Rohit & Shubman Gill may have stitched innumerable memorable partnerships in ODIs, but the Indian skipper has snubbed Kohli, & Gill when quizzed about his favorite batting partner. Rohit Sharma said his favorite batting partner is Shikhar Dhawan. The right-hand batter and the southpaw are one of the best opening pairs in the history of ODI cricket. The duo have batted 117 times together and have scored 5193 runs.

Kohli and Rohit have batted 86 times in ODIs and have added 5008, however, the Indian opening batter yet picked Dhawan, owing to his incredible bond with him on and off the field.

“Shikhar Dhawan & I had a very strong friendship on and off the field. We have played for so many years together, and it’s a partnership that I enjoyed being part of. He has a very infectious energy, and it’s just a lot of fun to be around him, and the records that we set as an opening pair for India,” Rohit said to IANS.

Speaking about Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper is not part of the first two ODIs against Australia. BCCI have given him rest owing to his workload during the World Cup. The 37-year-old will return to the team in the third ODI against Australia, which is set to be played on September 27.
