Despite being regarded as one of the best batters of all time, Virat Kohli‘s inclusion in T20Is is in doubt. With the T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled right after IPL 2024, reports suggest that Kohli may not secure a spot in the squad. Both the BCCI and the team management reportedly have expressed doubt about his aggressive playing style. However, former Australia captain Aaron Finch was baffled by the reports of Kohli’s exclusion from the World Cup.
“I can’t understand why there’s an ICC event coming and every time people talk about Virat Kohli if his spot is under the scanner. That’s the biggest rubbish I’ve ever heard, it’s ridiculous. He’s the greatest white ball player I’ve ever seen”. said Finch in an interview with ESPN.
Finch’s reaction does not come as a surprise looking at the statistics the iconic batsman has recorded in the shortest format over the game. In 378 T20 games, Virat Kohli has scored 12,092 runs at an average of 41.26, with eight centuries and 92 fifties. His highest score is 122*. Virat is India’s leading T20 run scorer and overall sixth.

Despite being one of the finest batsmen India has ever produced, Virat Kohli’s strike rate in T20Is often raises questions. However, the RCB star gave a fitting reply scoring his 100th T20 fifty-plus against PBKS in IPL 2024, becoming the first Indian and only third player to do so.
He scored 77 runs off 49 balls, including 11 fours and two sixes. He scored runs with a strike rate of more than 157. RCB overcame PBKS by four wickets, with Kohli playing a key role. After taking the Orange Cap, Kohli talked out about his form hitting out the rumours of him not being good enough for the Carribean conditions.
“I know my name is often used to just promote the T20 game across the world when it comes to T20 cricket these days but still got it I guess.” said Virat Kohli.
