No decision on IPL retentions, Pandya agrees to play domestic white-ball cricket, reveals Jay Shah

BCCI secretary Jay Shah also said that the board will be inviting fresh coach applications, since Rahul Dravid's tenure is ending in June.

Even before the IPL 2024 has ended, the buzz for IPL 2025 has started already, since it is going to a mega auction year for the league. The complexion of every franchise will change..and some of the bigger stars associated with a team, could be seen donning new jerseys. But BCCI secretary Jay Shah made it clear that the board is yet to finalise the retention rules with the franchises, as per a report in Cricbuzz.

No Champions League as of Now

Last month, there were talks of reviving the Champions League T20 tournament, with Cricket Victoria chief making such claims. But Jay Shah clarified, there is no discussions happening on the topic. Nick Cummins had said, “I know that there’s active conversations between Cricket Australia (CA), ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) and the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) about (reviving) the Champions League. It’s just trying to find a window as to when you actually play that, because you’ve also got all the ICC tournaments as well.”

While there were reports suggesting that the BCCI might considerably increase the remuneration for the domestic players, Jay Shah stated, that it will be decided by the state associations. Meanwhile, he also opened up on the role Hardik Pandya is expected to play in Indian cricket. Shah revealed that the A-grader has agreed to play white-ball domestic competitions.

He touched briefly on the smaller points as well, where the structure of the domestic cricket will be revealed soon, and the High-performance Centre at the NCA will be operational from August.
