Mystery spinner bait for Bangladesh? Jaisball reinforcement for Ashwin-Jadeja in IND vs BAN Test

Who will be India's third spinner in IND vs BAN 1st Test in Chennai? Not Axar or Kuldeep as Gambhir uses Yashasvi in nets

Spinners will be playing a huge role in the upcoming IND vs BAN 1st Test in Chennai. And on India’s camp, the hosts had a mystery spinner to accompany the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was spotted bowling to the dup of Ashwin-Jadeja, giving a hint that the young southpaw can be used as a third spin option in what can be a bait option for the visitors.

While India has the likes of Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav as the other options, but as evident from the practice session, it looks as if India would head into the game with just 2 out and out spinners. Reports claim that the Chennai pitch would be red soil, meaning it would assist the spinners.

Bowling with part-timers? A New Normal?

It has been quite evident in the Gautam Gambhir era that part-timers are often asked to roll their arms in the practice sessions. And that too has been the case on Sunday. Yashasvi bowled seriously to Jadeja and Ashwin, executing his leg breaks. Under Gambhir previously, both Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh too bowled in the nets, indicating how Gambhir often uses batters in bowling as well.

If at all a red soil is used, then India would likely for a three pacer attack. But given how Bangladesh are strong in their spin department, it remains to be seen what India does. The hosts further have the choice to choose between Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav as the specialist spinner in the mixes.
