Mukesh Kumar admits his offence during MI vs DC IPL match, gets fined by BCCI

KL Rahul replaced Mukesh Kumar as the impact player in the second innings of the MI vs DC IPL 2025 match.

To add salt to the wounds, Mukesh Kumar has been punished by the BCCI after he admitted to an offence in the Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Delhi Capitals (DC) match at the IPL 2025. The Indian international, who had a poor outing in a must-win clash against MI, has been fined 10% of his match fees for committing a Level 1 offence, as per the IPL 2025 officials.

Why was Mukesh Kumar fined?

Apparently, the DC pacer, who bought for Rs 8 crore at the IPL 2025 auction, admitted his offence for “abusing” cricket equipment, clothing, or ground equipment during the DC’s loss to Mumbai. While a video of anything related to Mukesh vandalising any equipment didn’t surface, his admission to the offence means that he has garnered only a 10% cut.

Mukesh Kumar admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 (Abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a Match) and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction,” the IPL said in a release. “For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.”

How did Mukesh Kumar bowl in MI vs DC match?

Mukesh Kumar’s early promise with the new ball was brutally extinguished in the slog overs. After snaring Will Jacks and Tilak Varma, he was hammered for 27 runs in his final over, including three sixes and two fours. Mukesh erred in lines big time and was quite predictable against the likes of threatening Suryakumar Yadav and talented Naman Dhir.

Despite a physio call, he soldiered on, finishing with a worrying 48 runs from four overs. It’s a pattern that’s repeated all too often this season – Mukesh has struggled to contain runs, finishing with 11 wickets at 32.63 average and a worrying economy rate of 10.11.
