There is not an iota of doubt about Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni being the favorite players of most of the current Indian cricketers. Both players have earned an immense amount of respect from the players. Also, players listen to these legends and try to learn as much as possible. With the World Cup around the corner, Legendary Australia cricketer Adam Gilchrist also believes both Tendulkar and Dhoni should spend time with team India players.

“The BCCI should ask MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar to spend time with the team India ahead of the World Cup,” Gilchrist said to PTI.

While there is no official announcement yet on Dhoni or Tendulkar being roped in as the mentor for the World Cup, speculations are rife that Dhoni might be roped in as a mentor during the showpiece event.

The CSK captain was last seen in the mentorship role during the World Cup 2021. Tendulkar is yet to mentor team India the Master Blaster is been in that role for Mumbai Indians for over eight years. Gilchrist feels if these two icons of the game spend time with Indian players, then Rohit Sharma & Co will have a lot of confidence during the World Cup.

Also, with India not winning any major ICC trophies for over 10 years, Gilchrist believes Tendulkar and Dhoni’s pep talk will inspire India to do an encore in 2011.

Speaking about India’s chances in the WC, Gilchrist feels India have a great chance of reaching the top four. The former Australia wicketkeeper batter also picked England, Australia, and Pakistan as his other three semi-finalists for the WC.

I think India and Pakistan could feature in the semi-finals, Australia and England are another two teams,” Gilchrist predicted. The WC kicks off on October 5 with last year’s finalists, England and New Zealand playing in Ahmedabad.
